Ah yes, if only the fountain of youth existed and we could drink from it every day!
But there are many things you can do to slow down the aging process.
Besides the obvious such as:
- Stress management
- Fresh air and exercise
- Eating a healthy diet
there are 3 others that I think are essential:
1. Getting enough essential fatty acids
It's hard to get enough omega 3s from our diet, from nuts, seeds and fish however so many of our fish are contaminated or farmed. The reason they are called essential is because the body doesn't produce them. I take a supplement every day, if you want to know how to order high quality omega 3s simply reply to this email.
2. Stand and Sit Taller
This is something I constantly need to remind myself to do every day. Even if I taught yoga for 24 years, I still tend to slouch. Most of us spend our days at a desk. Invest in a really good chair and keep taking stretch breaks. Pull your shoulders back and chin in. Sit and stand tall to keep your spine strong and healthy as you age.
3. Cut back on sugar
Excess processed sugar in your diet, even in small amounts can cause dark circles, wrinkles, dehydrate skin and can fast track the aging process.
Most people are really surprised when I tell them my age. Good genes? Yes, in part, but I strongly believe a healthy diet with no sugar has been one thing that helps me to stay young looking.
You might argue that sugar is impossible to avoid, it's in Everything. Well yes, if you're eating processed, packaged food it is. When I crave sweets I have my delicious home made power bars, some fruit or dried fruit, yogurt with a little maple syrup. I
believe that sugar is a poison to our body so that makes it easy to avoid.
We can't turn back time, but there's a lot we can do to slow down the clock. I hope these tips motivate you.
