This weekend I watched the documentary on Netflix, called, The C word. A film about celebrated French neuroscientist and cancer revolutionary Dr. David Servan-Schreiber, and the producer Meghan L. O'Hara, who braved the journey from diagnosis to wellness.
Servan-Schreiber was one of the pioneers who advocated that there is so much to be done that can prevent cancer and so little research and knowledge being spread about this incredibly important topic.
It is so unfortunate that most of the research is focused on a cure rather than prevention. What is it going to take for this to change?
No one wants to hear that they have the C word.
There are 4 things to do to prevent cancer.
Do you know what they are? Interesting that when I start working with my clients we talk about the 4 pillars of health which are basically the same as the 4 things to do to prevent cancer.
1. Healthy Diet
Of course, nothing new there, eating a diet that's focused on eating foods in their most natural state possible, with lots of fruits and vegetables, protein, nuts, seeds, whole grains and protein is key. Avoiding processed, packaged foods, sugar and foods made with refined grains.
With emphasis on alkalinizing foods, such as dark leafy greens and antioxidants, foods that are dark coloured, berries etc.
2. Exercise
It's so easy to find excuses to avoid exercise, but if you want to avoid pain and disease, it's essential to keep on moving, strengthening and stretching your body.
The best kind fo exercise is the one that you love and that you'll do.
3. Stress Management
Stress wreaks havoc on the body, I see this first hand with my clients, when they go on vacation. Often, all of the ailments mysteriously disappear until they return and get caught back up in the stress of their every day lives.
What are some of the things you can do to better manage your stress? Make a list of all the things that help you stay calm and incorporate them into your day.
4. Reduce Toxins
I believe that one of the reasons that cancer is growing at such an alarming rate is our exposure to chemicals.
I am always surprised, when I start working with my clients and I ask them what kind of laundry detergent they are using, and they say Tide or other brands high in chemicals and perfumes. We are exposed to so many chemicals on a daily basis, so it is essential to eliminate all chemical cleaning products and skin care products, from your
home.
There are so many wonderful chemical free alternatives you can use. I Love ENJO, different types of fibers made in Austria that use just water to clean. pore deep.
Also, ensure that all of your skin care products and make up are free of perfume and harmful chemicals. There is no regulation in the amount of toxic chemicals in make up and beauty products. Europe has banned 111 chemicals and the US has only banned 11. I use Arbonne. If you want information on buying ENJO or Arbonne, feel free to email me.
Following these 4 things will not only reduce your chances of getting cancer, they will ensure you stay healthy as you grow older.
