It's September, fresh air, back to school, time for a fresh start... But some of us may stay stuck, in our old patterns, not moving forward, not making changes,

and /or allowing fear to rule the game...
All those thoughts were going through my head when I decided to take up solo-cycle touring 4 years ago. I didn't think that I could do it alone. I had the dream to cycle tour for over 25 years but I held onto the belief that I wasn't strong enough to do it alone. Turns out I was wrong!
Over the past 5 years I did 4 trips, climbing steep hills like on the Cabot trail, the Gaspe and the White Mountains below.

This year I decided I wanted part of my vacation with Phil to involve backpacking, camping and hiking in the Adirondacks. The last time I did this was 17 years ago. You carry in all your gear 5.5 kms ( 3.5 miles) and camp in a lean-to, which is like a cabin with 3 sides. There are a few of them you can reserve in advance, then you don't have to carry in a tent.
I was worried about being able to carry a pack weighing about 20 pounds, would I be able to? When I put it on at home my lower back got sore right away. (no doubt more from fear)
But I did it, and we had a great time, perfect weather, enjoyed some fabulous hikes and my back was fine.
