In my last newsletter I wrote about emotional eating, and the importance of using mindfulness, and keeping track of what emotions are there.
This week I'd like to expand on that with a quick video I did recently, talking about the fact that most emotions only last for 90 to 120 seconds...
Knowing that, can you simply sit with the emotion that's there, without trying to make it go away? Can you last 2 minutes? Because if you can, you might just notice that the feeling dissipates...Give it a try!
Of course, some emotions last longer, are more intense and may require outside help.
Last night I had a great time watching Rocketman. You could see how much turmoil and pain Elton John was in because of his upbringing. He never received the unconditional love and acceptance he longed for from his parents. (Go figure, I don't know many people who did!)
Elton turned to drugs, alcohol and bulimia to not feel the pain and anger. Finally going to rehab and working through his past, he was able to overcome his addictions.
Watch my quick 2 minute video in which I talk about how one of my young clients had a huge Ah Ha moment and breakthrough handling her emotional eating. If you like it, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe. :)
