My Online Weight Loss Group
Sure, there’s no doubt that, yes, those skinny friends you envy may have been blessed with good genes. But, chances are they also implement some good habits to maintain a slim physique.
Here are some secrets to being skinny that you can try:
Have lots of staples on hand, such as cooked quinoa, cooked brown rice, grated carrots, loads of washed vegetables, homemade salad dressing, fruits and trail mix, frozen soups and meals.
When you come home hungry, you’ll have lots of healthy choices ready.
2. Always leave home with healthy food
Slip a banana, apple or seasonal fruit in your purse. Or, make some homemade power bars or trail mix with raw organic ingredients.
If you are head out during meal times or are out for the day, bring a full meal. Avoid restaurants and take out foods with their unhealthy refined oils. You’ll save money, your health, and lose weight.
3. Never go too long without food
When you skip or delay a meal, you slow down your metabolism and your body stores your next meal as fat. Also, you’ll tend to overeat if you’ve gone too long without food.
In general, never have more than 4 hours in between breakfast and lunch, no more than 6 hours between lunch and dinner.
Many people mistake thirst for hunger. Keep water available and in front of you at all times.
Add lemon slices, mint leaves, or fresh ginger to help you drink more.
5. Use portion control even during the holidays
(Sorry, this tip is a little late) According to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine, most people don’t ever lose the weight they put on during the holidays.
Enjoy your favorite foods at gatherings but don’t use them as an excuse to overeat or drink too much, even if your family does make you crazy!

Richard Béliveau, author of Cooking with Foods that Fight Cancer, says. “Nothing will change if it doesn't give you pleasure.” Exactly.
Find a type of exercise that gives you pleasure. Focus on positive changes and outcomes.
7. Don’t bring junk food into the house
Who can resist sweets or chips if they’re easily available? No one! If you’re serious about shedding the pounds, you need to get rid of all the junk in your house and don’t bring in anymore.
If you’re buying it for your kids, there are lots of healthy alternatives you can make or bake that you’ll be teaching them better eating habits.
8. Keep the fridge and cupboard filled with healthy foods.
Buy lots of vegetables and play the game of eating them all up before they wilt and then repeat.
Keep your cupboards stocked with lots of staples bought in bulk at the health food store. Spelt, kamut, or brown rice pasta, quinoa, beans, oats, almonds, etc.
You need good fats to lose fat. Many low-fat products are high in sugar and chemicals.
Eat foods rich in healthy fats such as salmon, sardines, raw nuts and seeds, avocados, and extra virgin olive oil.
