Hello
What a great start to the Year!

Our Grand Opening of The Yellow Umbrella Wellness Center was a Huge Success!

We had people non-stop for 5 hours each day and people that stayed well after it was supposed to finish!

For those on Facebook, Here is the amateur Facebook live video I did during the event! (sorry, I was unable to make it available off of fb) You can have a virtual tour of our center where I now have my office.
Cross country skiing on Mount Royal, Montreal.
How to read food labels
I sent this out in one of the emails for the 30 day Weight Loss Challenge. I thought that it was great information, so I wanted to share it with you!

First thing to note is that:

If it has a bar code it isn't food!

No food has been made more nutritionally dense through packaging or processing. Your packaged and processed foods should be kept to a bare minimum.

But if you do eat them, here is what to look for:

1. Check the list of ingredients
What is the first  ingredient?
What are the next few ingredients?
How soon is sugar mentioned?
What kind of oils are used?
What kind of ingredients are at the end of the list?
Long chemical names that you can not pronounce, you should not ingest!

2. Check the Nutrition Facts
Check what the serving size is. Sometimes it is much smaller than a portion that you would eat!
Check the amount of sugar
4 grams of sugar = 1 teaspoon. over 5 grams = too much for cereal etc.
Check the fat and saturated fat, it should be as low as possible
Check the sodium content, it should also be as low as possible
Guess the product!
Milk chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, milk powder, chocolate liquor, soy lecithin, polyglycerol polyricinoleate, salt, vanillin), caramel (glucose, sugar, palm oil, skim milk, glycerin, butter, whey [milk], modified corn starch, salt, mono and diglycerides, natural and artificial flavours, soy lecithin), granola (quaker rolled oats, rolled whole wheat, brown sugar, sunflower oil, dried unsweetened coconut, honey, sodium bicarbonate, natural flavour, modified milk ingredients), whole grain brown rice crisps (whole grain brown rice flour, sugar, barley malt, salt, mixed tocopherols), glucose, peanuts, brown sugar, glucose solids, glycerin, invert sugar, shortening (canola oil, modified palm and palm kernel oils), sorbitol, water, salt, soy lecithin, BHT (preservative), citric acid.

Here's what I see:

Sugar is the 1st  and main ingredient! And it is mentioned 12 times!
sugar, glucose, sugar,  brown sugar, honey, sugar, barley malt, glucose,  brown sugar, glucose solids, invert sugar, sorbitol.

Check out all the unhealthy, artery clogging, refined oils:
Palm oil,  sunflower oil,  shortening (canola oil, modified palm and palm kernel oils),

Polyglycerol polyricinoleate,  is a yellowish glutinous liquid produced from glycerol and castor bean sourced fatty acids, used in low-quality chocolate brands such as Hershey's, Nestle, and Mars.

BHT is a chemical I don't want in my body.

Only 2 gram of protein, so you will need 10 of these to fill you up! :)
5 grams of fat
A whopping 14 grams of sugar, not surprising...
Sodium in packaged foods is always table salt, very detrimental to the body, compared to natural, sun dried sea salt.

"Sue-Anne has been such a blessing in my life. I went into this trying to lose weight (and lose 20 pounds I did), but I came out being a stronger, more confident, honest and self-respecting person, things I never thought would happen.

She truly uses a holistic approach, combining eating changes, exercise, emotional and spiritual healing guidance. Don't be afraid to talk about the emotional things that may have lead up to your weight gain...turns out it was causing about 80% of my weight gain.

Sue-Anne is a very caring person and very easy to talk to. She made me see that I don't have to delay doing things I want just because of my weight; if i start doing things I want to and focus on confidence and my passions and letting go of the past, lots of the weight will just melt off ( for me at least).

I would highly highly highly recommend her for anyone that not only wants to lose weight but change their perspective and their life."
