Should you cut down on your fruit consumption?
Three clients recently asked me the same question.

Is the sugar in fruit bad for me? Should I be avoiding fruit?

One had come across Sarah Wilson's website - creator of "I Quit Sugar,' who claimed anything with fructose ie. dates etc, should be avoided. (Meanwhile many of the recipes she posts on Facebook are very unhealthy.) It's not surprising her background is in journalism with no credentials in anything related to nutrition.

It can be confusing!

Here's how to tell what's good for you...

If it grows, it's good.

God made = healthy

Man made = unhealthy.

Fruits are a healthy snack!

Who should avoid fruits
It might be best for you to avoid fruits for a while if you are someone who is a real sugar addict, and yes it is an addiction.
In fact, refined sugars attach to the same receptors as narcotics, valium, and alcohol, according to Dr. Hugo Rodier, author of Licking Sweet Death.

For those who are trying to beat the sugar highs and lows it would be best to reduce and even avoid fruit and dried fruit until you get your blood sugar balanced.

Once you are over the hump you can introduce the fruits back in.

But if your sweet cravings are under control, by all means enjoy one or two fruits per day.

They are a perfect snack to keep you going when you get in, you are hungry and are preparing dinner, and they are more easily digested before a meal.

"I met with Sue-Anne and she taught me how to eat for my body type. I took to the program really quickly and found it easy to make some major changes. Such as changing my sweetener from Splenda to Stevia a more natural sugar. Eliminating my 2 daily diet soft drinks. I now go for water and herbal tea.

I am making healthier food choices and eating foods for my body type that help me feel more satisfied during the day and my cravings for the less healthy foods (high sodium and sweets) that I used to enjoy have diminished considerably.

I am more aware and am better at planing what I’m going to eat. I have become more active… walking everyday and feel better in general and have more energy to carry on with my day.
Being more aware and making better food choices for my body type has certainly pay off.

I want to thank Sue-Anne for her guidance and her encouragement on my journey to wellness!"
