Feeling Thankful!
Welcome to all of the new subscribers! There are many this month as I sent out my last yoga newsletter and invited everyone to sign up to this one. Thank-you to all of you, old and new, for joining my journey here!

For all of the many subscribers from the U.S. and around the world, this weekend we celebrated our Canadian Thanksgiving here in Montreal.

What a gorgeous time of the year with the spectacular colors of the maple leaves. I went for a bike ride today, as always, marveling the fact that I live in a beautiful area on the western tip of the island. In 10 minutes I am biking beside the water, through the forests, beside the fields, farms and even sheep!

I am so very thankful to be doing what I love every day,
helping people feel better, transform their lives, lose weight, heal their ailments naturally! Could it be any better?

And I also feel so grateful for everyone and everything in my life. Every day is truly another day in paradise.
What are you feeling thankful for?
Reversing Memory Loss and Alzheimer's!
I find the results of the latest study fascinating!

Proof of the incredible benefits of a healthy diet, lifestyle and supplements!  It is possible to prevent and reverse, memory loss and Alzheimer's.

Dr. Dean Ornish was a pioneer and the first doctor to scientifically prove that cardiovascular disease could be reversed through changes to a plant based diet along with exercise, yoga and meditation. The Lifestyle Heart Trial in 1990, was unprecedented and came at a time when previously, medical doctors had been relying solely on medication with poor results.

Now a small study has just been completed at UCLA by Dr. Dale Bredesen. He achieved outstanding results in reversing memory loss associated with Alzheimer's using a similar program and adding in supplements and vitamins.  The 10 participants followed a low glycemic diet, avoiding simple carbs, gluten and processed foods. They increased fruits and vegetables and  non farmed fish.  They were encouraged to not eat after dinner and to get 8 hours of sleep per night. They reduced stress through yoga, meditation or music, etc.  They got 30 to 60 minutes of exercise, 4 to 6 times per week.

The supplements and vitamins included Omega 3s, vitamin D3, vitamin B1, B5, B6 and B12, K2,  E,  selenium, melatonin, Reverstrol, CoQ10, Curcumin, and pre and probiotics if needed. Some women in the study took hormone replacement therapy.

After only 5 or 6 months all but one (who was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's) had remarkably improved!  They were able to return to work, rapid cognitive decline was completely halted.
Two and a half years later
at ages in the 50s to 70s all 9 patients maintain their improved memory and function!

Prevention is key, I hope this encourages you to follow a healthy diet and lifestyle!

Are you taking a good quality Omega 3, vitamin D and Complex B? These are some of the daily vitamins I believe essential and that I take every day. Please contact me if you'd like information on how to get high quality vitamins for 20% or more off of the retail price.
Apple Crisp
It's Apple Season! I adapted this recipe (as I do most) reducing the amount of sugar, (apples are sweet enough!) and using kamut flour, etc. Everyone who eats this asks me for the recipe.

Preheat the oven to 350.
8 or more apples
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/3 to ½ cup water

½ cup-heaping flour- splelt, or kamut, or whole wheat
½ cup - heaping -old fashioned oats
1/3 cup raw sugar
1/3 cup melted butter
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
1 cup chopped walnuts

Peel, core and chop the apples. Toss the apples with lemon juice.
Place in an  8" x 11" baking dish.
Add the water.
Mix the remaining ingredients, spread over the apples,

Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes

I joined Sue-Anne's weight loss group only 4 weeks ago and have already lost 9 pounds!

Sue-Anne's body type plan is simply amazing.  It has been so easy to follow, and is not time consuming; very important for a busy working mom of 2!  She has taught me so much already about food and what works for my body type.

I have so much energy and feel simply amazing!  The sessions are very informative and offer so much support.  Through the group, Sue Anne provides so much encouragement and helps you find solutions to help you overcome your obstacles.

It has been such a great experience so far and I am looking forward to what the next 6 weeks will bring!
